At
FedEx, pedestrian and road safety is a top priority. They are one of the
biggest company in the world with many trucks on the road. Therefore, they care
about road safety and invest in the cause. With more than 90,000 FedEx trucks
on the road, safety is one of their core values and the top priorities. Every
day, there have more than 3,200 people lose their lives and 136,000 are seriously
injured in vehicle-related crashes around the globe. Almost half of those are
“vulnerable” road users, including motorcyclists, pedestrians, and children.
FedEx
in United States have published their Global Citizenship Report for 2014. In
this global citizenship, it is about connecting the world responsibly and
resourcefully. More than ever, they have aligning the citizenship goals with
their business goals, it was to create the most far-reaching, impactful
programs possible.
The
annual global citizenship report also covers that, FedEx enterprise-wide
strategies, goals, programs and progress across the four key pillars which are
Economic Development, Environment, Community and people. Data in this report
covers each of their operating companies and all geographies. This report give
a focus on the depth of FedEx’s investment in communities around the world and
in other way, they also focus on the road safety.
FedEx
is a proud supporter of Youth For Road Safety (YOURS) and their efforts to
#SafeKidsLives around the world. Recently, they have assisted YOURS in
delivering a pre-training workshop on NGO and Corporate Fundraising at 4th
Meeting of the Global NGO Alliance for Road Safety. FedEx as a member of the UN
Global Road Safety Collaboration, they also has ongoing on road safety
initiatives in more than 10 countries worldwide and has reached more than 10
million children with lifesaving road safety education programs.
FedEx
have shared the road and responsibility to make it in a safer place by putting
their logistics expertise to work on it. In addition to comprehensive internal
driver in safety policies, programs, and training, they support road safety
initiatives around the world implemented by organization such as:
Safe
Kids Worldwide: a global network of organizations working together to prevent
accidental injury.
EMBARQ:
the World Resources Institute’s Center for Sustainable Transportation dedicated
to connecting people to jobs safely and economically, including a Safety First
driver training program in Mexico.
UN
road safety program: FedEx as member of UN Road Safety Collaboration, they also
shared the safety information with governments, nonprofits, and business. FedEx
also support the UN Decade of Action for Road Safety in its goal to save five
million lives by 2020.
Now, FedEx is highly
concerned about road safety. As a road user, we should have the conscious like
FedEx, which is learn to be initiative instead of being a passive road user.
Road safety is bringing up to the global attention, your initiative in joining
our Promise Me Campaign will force us to improve into more better ways, can
alert most of the road user at the same time and within your actions will be
